HKS211.1x Central Challenges of American National Security, Strategy and the Press: An Introduction
You can now apply through Monday, September 23, 6 PM (EST) to become one of the 500 students in the Harvard Online Classroom who may complete the course assignments to earn a certificate of achievement. Both the certificate version and the auditor version are available at no cost.
HKS211.1X is the first Harvard Kennedy School course on edX, the online education venture launched last year by Harvard and MIT. The class is being taught by Harvard Professor Graham Allison, Director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, and David E. Sanger, Chief Washington Correspondent for the New York Times.
The course, which begins on October 1, will present three case studies of the timeliest national security challenges. The application asks students to advise on U.S. foreign policy in Syria; later cases will address Iran's nuclear program and NSA/WikiLeaks.
Online students will put themselves in the role of presidential adviser, counseling the president on how to handle these tough situations. Congratulations on accepting the challenge, and good luck!
We look forward to working with you, and encourage you to apply for a space in the Harvard Online Classroom.
